Hearts on fire
Since time immemorial, philosophers, poets, painters and musicians of all ages and epochs have endeavored to put the most beautiful things of the world into words, paintings or songs. “Love is”, as Ricarda Huch tell us, “the only thing which does not dwindle even when we spend it.”
And how we love to spend time showing those close to us how we feel. When a person loves another, then he or she wants the whole world to know. With fantasy we make our feelings known. We write poetry, disclose our most intimate thoughts to our diaries or compose particularly long letters or thoughtfull postcards. And frequently the heart plays a significant role as a symbol for unending love. Thus we see it carved into the trunk of a tree in woods and parks or on park benches, handrails and doors, or during a stroll on the beach, where we can encounter a heart formed by seashells lying in the white sand. In gardens we see flower beds in the shape of a heart and on special occasions we give them es presents made of chocolate, as a charm hanging on a necklace or as a sticker decorating a present.
