Immortalized in black and white
Since the beginning of time, man has strove to render human likeness in art. The black and white nude photos of Gorden Thye reveal more than just the outward appearance, however. With sensitivity they relate stories about people and provide the attentive viewer with meaningful insight into one’s inner feelings. The composition of Gorden Thye’s photos relies on a special language. Perfect bodies arouse the senses superficially at first, but after a moment of study the expressive eyes and position of the subjects expose their inner being. With black and white, light creates facsimiles of reality, transforms fleeting moments into immortality.
The photographer
Gorden Thye, born on May 10, 1972 in Georgsmarienhütte near Osnabrück, Germany, was selected as an award-winner of Germany’s Youth Photography Contest from 1989 to 1991. The acclaim he has received from his collection of photos ”Nudes and Portraits”, published in 2003, by Kunstverlag Weingarten, has led to numerous exhibits in Germany.
