Fragrant dreams
Wherever we can find or observe them, whether in our gardens, in parks, clearings or wooded glades, in caves or water, in protective nests up in treetops or hidden between branches and undergroth, in hedges and bushes, they always seem to catch our attention entirely.
Although uncertain, they peer at us with their little eyes, and while awkward, they attemp to take their first steps on woobly legs to explore their new surroundings.
Whether a baby pet or animal found in the woods, a newborn farm animal or fledgling, whenever they can they want to play. Brimming with curiosity, they discover their new world day by day, step by step with parents, siblings or other animals.
While watching them, we can sense not only their zest for life and carefreeness but also their need for warmth, security and love. Perhaps it is just this contented carefreeness and defenselessness that allows us to be so close these small baby animals.
