Isles of tranquility
Not only the primeval character of nature casts a spell upon us. Frequently public gardens and parks, which are laid out artfully by human hand, are the destination of our Sunday excursions. And if we take a close look, we can read them just as we read a book.
The way the paths are arranged, the interaction of water, the variation of tree clusters, hedges  and open spaces, the arrangement of small pavilions, benches or gazebos, the selection of flowers and bushes tell us tales of long past times. Then these oases of calmness always bear the signature of their benefactors and designers - of lords or enlightened citizens, of lanscape  architects or gardeners. Designed landscapes  remain as perserved cultural assets of humanity that directly reflect the enjoyment of life and the dreams of those epochs.
And times is essential for growth. Preconceived for ages to come these landscapes first become  visible as in their final state to later generations. Today, decades or even centuries later, we can stroll through these living witnesses of the past and get a feeling for the spirit of days of yore.
