There is probably no other flower, which fascinates mankind like a rose. Described in innumerable poems, referred to in countless songs, the red rose always represents love, truth and hope. However, it is not only poets and singers who have been inspired by this most majesty of flowers. Dense hedges of roses as well as thorns have been an important theme in many of our fairy tales.
Today, we cannot imagine life without them. The often white, yellow or red and sometimes blue glittering petals are the silent instigators of our feelings.
Can you imagine a declaration of love or a wedding without a bunch of roses? Alternatively, at birthdays and anniversaries roses are seen as a symbol of esteem and veneration and are seldom missing.
There are few gardens and parks that are not embellished with the Queen of Flowers blossoming near palisades, walls or in colourful flowerbeds. During painful times however, the rose is a silent messenger of our sympathy and sorrow. She is probably the only flower that has become a formidable part of our culture.
