In peace and war time they have accompanied generations of human beings in their fate.
With their far longer expectation of life they seem to be eternal companions to us, though even they are mortable. Planting a tree to us represents continuation of life. There is an old saying, that the first tree cut down established culture and the last to be cut will end it. It is our duty to teach the generations to come to appreciate and cultivate this gift of nature as an essential part of our life. We humans and trees are an organism living in symbiosis, dependent on one another.
